The Saints organization is still buzzing about the incredible contributions of their 2024 summer intern, Cassandra Moorman, a bright talent hailing from Coldwater, Ohio. Currently a junior at Bowling Green State University, Cassandra is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a clear focus on Marketing, complemented by an engaging Music Industry Minor. Her coursework has provided her with a strong foundation in marketing principles and strategies, which she eagerly applied during her time with the Saints.
Cassandra’s connection with the Saints began after she filled out a simple web form expressing her interest in learning more about the DCI world. Little did she know, this initial step would lead to a successful interview and a fantastic opportunity: a paid summer internship with the organization. It turned out to be a win-win, as Cassandra dove headfirst into gaining valuable real-world experience in areas like event management, merchandise operations, nonprofit management, operational planning, project management, and, notably, social media marketing and building online communities – areas directly aligned with her marketing specialization.
During her time with the Saints, Cassandra wasn’t just observing; she was actively contributing, bringing her marketing lens to many aspects of the organization. She got a firsthand look at the inner workings by shadowing the educational staff, learning the ins and outs of running events and operations smoothly. Her sharp mind was put to good use as she reviewed and came up with fresh, innovative ideas for the Saints’ merchandise game, from the souvenir store to the online shop, and even helped guide short-term staff in those areas.
Cassandra also had the chance to represent the Saints alongside other staff members at important meetings with Drum Corps International (DCI), including the prestigious World Championships directors meeting. Plus, she became a key point of contact, acting as the event management liaison between the corps and DCI for various events.
One of Cassandra’s standout achievements, directly leveraging her marketing expertise, was her fresh approach to the Saints’ social media. She developed and launched a member profile campaign that truly resonated with their audience, resulting in a remarkable 300% jump in engagement on Facebook and Instagram compared to the previous month. This significant increase underscores her understanding of effective social media marketing and community building.
Beyond her impressive accomplishments, Cassandra was simply a joy to work with. Her friendly, studious attitude, combined with her proactive thinking, meant she was always bringing great ideas to the table, especially when it came to making plans more consistent and boosting overall efficiency. Throughout her internship, she had a knack for offering smart solutions to scheduling hiccups and those unexpected day-of event challenges.
The entire Saints organization truly enjoyed having Cassandra on the team. Her positive energy, sharp focus, and valuable contributions, particularly in the realm of marketing, made a real difference, and they’re incredibly grateful for the time she spent with them.
